چکیده

Abstract Hydrothermally altered rhyolite rocks in the Permian Donnersberg Formation of a geothermal borehole Northern Upper Rhine Graben (Germany) were investigated to find out answers for low hydraulic conductivity rocks. The composition clay minerals and temperature smectite–illite transformation carried using X-ray diffraction, fluorescence, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, polarized-light microscopy analyses. Clay mineral (CM) includes illite/muscovite (1 M 2 1 polytypes), illite–smectite interstratifications (IS-ml), smectite, chlorite; non-clay such as quartz, feldspars, epidote, calcite, dolomite, hematite detected. -polytype mica might be only primary sheet silicates from parent rocks, while others occur authigenic neo-formed CMs under heat flow gradient. development indicates different mechanisms illitization smectitization. Based on texture, morphology, structure/polytype, chemistry minerals, particular CMs, study grouped CM formation into three processes: smectitization during magma cooling possible contact metamorphisms with decreasing temperature, smectite controlled by burial diagenesis hydrothermal alteration, illite followed exhumation Cenozoic subsidence temperature. rhyolites all orders IS-R0, IS-R1, IS-R3 dissolution-precipitation layer-to-layer mechanisms. first one supported small xenomorphic plates flakes d , elongated particles pseudo-hexagonal forms . second could lead platy polytypes. dominant range area has been 140–170 °C– ~ 230 °C.

How do permeable fractures in the Triassic sediments of Northern Alsace characterize the top of hydrothermal convective cells? Evidence from Soultz geothermal boreholes (France)

Background: The thermal regime of the Upper Rhine Graben (URG) is characterized by a series of anomalies near Soultz-sous-Forêts (France), Rittershoffen (France), and Landau (Germany). These temperature anomalies are associated with groundwater circulation in fractures and faults distributed in the Cenozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary cover associated with and connected to fractures originating de...

Identification of the Fractured Basement/cover Unconformity on Former Oil Seismic Profiles in the Upper

Fluid circulation at fractured basement/cover unconformity is of first importance for geothermal energy exploitation especially in continental rifting as the Upper Rhine Graben. This unconformity presents lot of natural fractures which constitute a large permeable fracture network driving brine movement. That constitutes a reservoir of hot water, which is exploited by several geothermal power p...

Diagenesis and clay mineral formation at Gale Crater, Mars

The Mars Science Laboratory rover Curiosity found host rocks of basaltic composition and alteration assemblages containing clay minerals at Yellowknife Bay, Gale Crater. On the basis of the observed host rock and alteration minerals, we present results of equilibrium thermochemical modeling of the Sheepbed mudstones of Yellowknife Bay in order to constrain the formation conditions of its second...

Evidence for Impact-induced Hydrothermal Clay Mineral Formation At

Introduction: Over 13 years after landing at Meridiani Planum and in her 10 extended mission, Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity continues to explore the rim of ~22 km diameter Endeavour crater [1]. The rim exposes material that is older than the S-rich, layered sedimentary rock covering the Meridiani plains and filling much of the interior of Endeavour. Clay mineral exposures at the rim have b...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
